Qing Dynasty, Monumental Ink and Color Silk Painting, "100 Deer", Late 18th Century. The Qing dynasty was the last imperial dynasty of China dating from 1644 to 1912. Lasting almost 3 centuries, the traditional arts flourished especially in literature, pottery, embroidery, carvings and paintings. Offered is a monumental work from this period. "100 Deer", artist unknown. This painting is in the 18th Century Qianlong style and is an intoxicating panorama of deer set in amongst glorious forests, landscapes and mountain ranges. The piece measures 8 feet long and 13½" tall from scroll to scroll. While the silk has toned over the two centuries, the colors have remained quite lovely, with gorgeous shades of greens, blues taupe, sienna and umber. It remains a beautiful piece. The painting has been shadowboxed and measures 12' x 21". A crate has already been custom built for safe shipping, however an outside carrier is required to which we can make recommendations. We can demount the painting from the shadow box and ship boxed which would certainly reduce the expense. Estimate Value $6,000 - UP
