Important Chinese Wucai Plate "Golden Carp" Dish, Marked as Kiangxi, Early 19th Century. Our best porcelain piece in this auction, this stunning Chinese wucai plate has shallow rounded sides from a tapered foot extending to a flared rim. The interior has a central golden carp (iron red in color) encircled by five more surrounding the rim floating among waterplants and various flowers, a thin double-line of blue underglaze perfectly circling the center medallion and just below the rim. The exterior is similarly decorated with five golden carp and the double-lines of blue underglaze circling the base and rim. The six character reign mark clearly apparent. Footed base has has one very tiny chip on underside otherwise this piece is absolutely magnificent. Comes with a carved stand and a silk lined, silk covered presentation box. 21 centimeters in diameter (just over 8 inches) and 4½ centimeters tall. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
