Dönitz, Karl -- Souvenir Authorization to Ratify the German Surrender. (1891-1980) German admiral who played a major role in the naval history of World War II. Dönitz briefly succeeded Adolf Hitler as the head of state of Germany. At the Nuremberg trials, he was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. Typed document signed "Dönitz," one page, n.p., 10.8.77. Being a souvenir copy of the document Dönitz signed as Grand Admiral on May 7, 1945 giving orders to General Fieldmarshal Keitel, General Admiral Von Friedeburg, and Colonel General Stumpf. With a 5¾ x 4" photo signed "Dönitz," and dated "20.6.75" is tipped to left margin. Estimate Value $300 - UP
