Von Trapp, Maria -- "The hills have never seemed so live with the Sound of Music…". (1914-2014) Stepmother and matriarch of the Trapp Family Singers. She wrote The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, published in 1949, which served as the inspiration for the 1956 West German film "The Trapp Family," which inspired the Broadway musical "The Sound of Music" (1959) and the 1965 film of the same name, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
Autograph postcard signed, "Maria" and postmarked VT, 1984. Addressed in her hand on a postcard with her picture to Sonia Ruby in Atlantic City, NJ. The last surviving member of the Von Trapp Family Singers writes: "Dear Sonia, The hills have never seemed so live with the Sound of Music since your son Samuel arrived. His profondo baritone is as crisp as dried edeveis [sic]. We have asked him to remain to become part of our choral group, but he will need to be released from the Von Ruby Minstrels.
