Meyerbeer, Giacomo -- A Friendly ALS From The Great German Opera Composer. (1791-1864) German opera composer (original name Jakob Liebmann Meyer Beer) who created in Paris a vogue for spectacular romantic opera. Autograph letter signed, "Meyerbeer", one page, in French, 7½ x 4½", np, Wednesday, nd. To an unidentified recipient whom he addresses as "Mon Cher Maitre." Meyerbeer says he has not been feeling well for the entire week or he would have come to embrace him since his (Meyerbeer's) arrival in Berlin. Now that he feels better, he doesn't want to delay this pleasure; however, he knows that the master is busy all day and Meyerbeer risks missing him or bothering him, so he accepts the teacher's offer of coming to see him and since he thinks Sunday is the day when the master has the most free time, he suggests that the master come to visit him around noon on Sunday. Meyerbeer offers his most distinguished feelings and declares himself "Your completely devoted Meyerbeer." Fine condition. Estimate Value $500 - UP
