Grieg, Edvard -- Autograph Postcard Signed to an Organist Friend in Copenhagen With Later ANS From Grieg's Widow. (1843-1907) Norwegian composer and pianist. Autograph postcard signed, one page, in Norwegian,Treldhaugen [Norway], Dec. 22 (19)01. Addressed in his hand to "Professor-Organist Gotfred Matthisen-Hansen, Copenhagen K…" Grieg sends Christmas greetings to his friend: "As you can see, I press Helga's hand and Nina presses yours, Getfred. So: Merry Christmas to both. Our thoughts go to Denmark. May we soon meet there. Your kind affectionate, Nina and Edvard Grieg." Grieg was one of the leading Romantic Era composers known for his many folk compositions. His most famous work was an adaptation of Ibsen's Peer Gynt which contained the memorable excerpt entitled, "In the Hall of the Mountain King."

Together with an ANS, in Danish, of his widow, Nina Grieg (1845-1935) Danish-Norwegian pianist and soprano; she was also Edvard Grieg's first cousin and often performed concerts with him. Two pages, 3½ x 4½", Hotel Momopal, Thursday Evening, Feb. 6, 1925. "Dear Pastor Fibiger, A thousand thanks for your kindness. Unfortunately we cannot have the pleasure of coming, as I am expecting a lady from Malmo for a rehearsal Wednesday afternoon and that cannot be changed. But thank you again for not having forgotten us. Yours sincerely, Nina Grieg." Fine. Estimate Value $500 - UP
