Lot 94

1846 N-7 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous bluish steel and olive with about 15% of the planchet showing mint color. The only marks, and they are minor, are a couple faint hairlines in the field before the portrait and a very subtle spot of darker toning in the field over the tip of the nose. Sharply struck EDS, die state a. The fine die lines from the dentils right of the date are crisp. A nice cent. Our grade is MS62, CC#6 in the Grellman census for the die variety. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer in BN at PCGS. Estimate Value $850 - UP
Ex Superior 2/17/1997:135-Chris McCawley 2/1997-Jack Wadlington (the Twin Leaf Collection), Stack's Bowers 7/2015:2401-William Hamilton Collection (includes the Wadlington collection notes and both lot tickets).
