Lot 495

1879-CC. NGC graded MS-65. This is one of the most challenging issues to find for any Morgan dollar collector. First off, its a Carson City issue, and that alone creates demand. Furthermore, the original mintage was largerly melted or lost, with perhaps 14,900 in existence today. Of that modest group, it is estimated that about 5,650 exist in various mint state grades by PCGS on their CoinFacts website. The vast majority of mint state coins fall into lower grades with gems downright rare by any measure today. Hence, the top grade Morgan dollar collectors all have to compete when a lovely gem like this comes to market. Here is a beauty that will dazzle any date and mint collector. A frosty example. Well struck and choice. Pop 54; 15 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7086) Estimate Value $20,000 - 22,000
