Lot 490

1878. 7 tail feathers, reverse of 1879. PCGS graded MS-66. A frosty white gem with nearly flawless surfaces and a sharp strike. This is a rare and seldom seen combination of the obverse die of 1878 but a late striking where the new style reverse die, adopted in late 1878, was used. This became known as the reverse of 1879, with the arrow feathers no longer parallel, but the top arrow feathers are placed at an angle. A condition rarity! Pop 28; 2 finer, 1 in 66 PL, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 7076) Estimate Value $7,000 - 7,500
