Lot 414

1837. NGC graded MS-65+. Here is a boldly struck coin, which shows amazing definition on Liberty's hair as well as the eagle's feathers. The quality of the surface is simply stunning, with Liberty's cheek and neck bathed in unbroken luster. The fields are creamy and frosty. Lightly toned with silver gray and a few traces of pale gold on both sides. A tough two year type coin struck on the early steam press that commenced coinage when these were struck, with a trial run of 1836 Reeded Edge half dollars just prior. Impressive quality and bold visual appeal. Pop 1; 14 finer at NGC. Estimate Value $14,000 - UP
