Lot 331

1857. PCGS graded Proof 67. Lovely dark blue toning and quite elegant in appearance. The surfaces are pristine show no signs of handling. Handsome antique hues span the entire surface, with much original mint reflectivity shining through. These early Proof dimes, dated prior to 1859, are much scarcer than later issues, and finding a superb gem like this is quite an accomplishment. Few were saved so well and preserved. Here is one of the finest known today, and a coin that will stand tall even in the most advanced collection. Exceptional eye apppeal and quality! Only 70 struck, with 30 to 50 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 2; tied with 2 other Proof 67 coins and a 67 Cameo at NGC as the highest graded examples for both services. (PCGS # 4746) Estimate Value $6,000 - 6,500
