Gordian III. Gold Aureus (5.12 g), AD 238-244. Rome, AD 241-243. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right. Reverse: VIRTVTI AVGVSTI, Hercules, naked, standing right and resting club on rock, lion skin beside. RIC 108; Calicó 3242. Well struck and well centered. Lustrous surfaces. We note a faint die crack on the reverse at 12 o'clock. Superb Extremely Fine. Estimate Value $4,000 - 4,500
