Lot 157

1856 N-8 R4- Upright 5 PCGS graded MS65 Red & Brown. Frosty mint red mellowing to light olive and steel brown with about two-thirds of the original mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. Just a few trivial marks including a nick well-hidden on the upper part of the hair bun and another on the rim under the 5 in the date. MDS, die state b, with a fine die crack slanting through MER. A very nice cent, and the reverse is a solid gem. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $800 - UP
