Lot 152

1855 N-10 R1 Italic 55 PCGS graded MS64 Red. Frosty mint red just starting to mellow to steel brown on the highpoints, about 85-90% of the planchet showing bright mint color. The surfaces are lustrous and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. The only notable mark is a small spot of toning (not carbon) in the field left of star 11. E-MDS, die state b. There is a hint of prooflike reflectivity in the fields and star 6 is severely weakened due to a clog in the die, the so-called 12-star die state. A beautiful cent in a neat die state; worthy of a top-notch collection. Our grade is MS64+. Among the finest known of the 12-star die state. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $1,250 - UP
Ex Henry T. Hettger 5/2002-Jack Wadlington (the Twin Leaf Collection), Stack's Bowers 7/2015:2700-Chris McCawley-David Johnson-William Hamilton Collection.

Realized $1,710
