Lot 137

1852 N-12 R1 NGC graded MS65 Red & Brown. Choice lustrous bluish steel brown and light olive with traces of underlying mint color on the obverse and 25% of the reverse showing mint red. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. Looks flawless to the unaided eye but a glass reveals a few very light contact marks from star 2 to star 4 and a couple ticks on the truncation. The only mark on the reverse is a speck of darker toning under the T in UNITED; otherwise this side is a gem in every respect. M-LDS, die state b, with a die crack from the bust tip to star 1 (Newcomb's #13). Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. Estimate Value $700 - UP

Realized $1,860
