Lot 123

1850 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Slightly faded mint red toning to bluish steel brown, a third of the red remaining. The only marks, and they are barely noticeable, are a tiny planchet flake on the top of the ear and another in the field over star 10, both as struck, plus a dull scuff on the dentils over R in AMERICA. E-MDS, die state b early. There is a very faint die crack through the top of NITE but it does not extend to the dentils above the D, and the reverse fields are starting to show microscopic flowlines. The die lines are still sharp. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Holmes provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $600 - UP
