Lot 121

1850 N-4 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Lustrous bluish steel brown with a lighter shade of brown inside the wreath and hints of very faded underlying mint red on the obverse. Covered with attractive satiny mint frost. There is a speck of carbon on the bottom of the front edge of the eyeball and another on the temple, plus a light tick on the chin and one on the coronet over the L. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, with a fine die line joining star 9 to the dentils above. Outstanding luster and eye appeal. Our grade is MS62+, close to MS63, and tied for CC#3 for the variety in the Grellman census. The attribution and Holmes provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $550 - UP
