5¢ Red Brown & Messenkope's Local Post Combo Cover, Interesting Origin. Small cover with four margin 5¢ red brown tid by red grid cancel and uncanceled black on green Messenkope's Union Square Post Office local post (Scott #106L1) with "Messenkope's" obliterated (see footnote in Scott after #106L2). Handwriting on cover is that of Helen Hunt (Jackson), author of "Ramona," when she was 19 or 20, sent to Ms Hunt's lawyer in Boston (typed and signed note gives support that it is Ms. Hunt's handwritting). Cover has some aging but rare. Acquired from an old Harmer Rooke sale (cat value was $100 at the time, lot sheet included). Scott $3000. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
