Leadership Appreciation Award to the Chairman of the STS -107 (Columbia) Accident Investigation Team March, 2004. Shadow box presentation award to the Chairman of the STS-107 Shuttle Columbia NASA Accident Investigation Team awarded just over a year after the catastrophe. The investigation determined eighty-two seconds into STS 107 lift-off, a sizable piece of debris struck the leading edge of the orbiter's left wing. During re-entry the damaged wing slowly over heated and came apart, eventually leading to loss of control and disintegration of Shuttle Columbia. Shadow box measures 12 x 16 x 3" and includes a beautifully executed plaque "In Appreciation For Your Leadership and Dedication as Chairman of the STS-107 NASA Accident Investigation Team March, 2004" with enamel emblems of the crew patch and NASA logo. Foam and tile fragments most likely not from the disaster but a solemn acknowledgment of the investigation. Obviously very scarce if not altogether unique. Estimate Value $400 - UP

Realized $660
