Collection of 2 Flight Operations Manuals and Large Personal Work Notebook form STS-1 and 1 from STS-2. STS-1, Shuttle Colombia launched April 12, 1981 ushering a new chapter in space missions which by chance coincided with the 20th anniversary of the first manned space flight. Mission was a test flight to accomplish a safe ascent into orbit and to return to Earth for a safe landing with only a minor payload of instrumentation to check all elements of the flight. From the operations director a Flight Data File Orbiter Systems Data Book dated 4/24/80 with charts but at least 20 fold-out pages illustrating displays and controls of the interior instrumentation and fantastic exterior illustrations with every feature of the shuttle indicated. STS-1 Flight Data File Ascent Checklist dated 3/3/81, a manual of several hundred pages with several pages containing handwritten notations and computations all addressing every imaginable detail with respect to ascent. Most interesting, a heavily referenced notebook about 3" thick with each page in a sleeve with charts, notes, memos many with handwritten figures, side notations, and illustrations most dated from 1980-1982 regarding STS -1. From STS-2 Flight Data File Entry Pocket Checklist dated 7/21/81 is included which contains schematics and technical aspects regarding pressure and cooling. Estimate Value $300 - UP
