Early Apollo Era Test Version/Prototype Grappling Hook for the Air Delivered Drift Reduction System (ADDRS). Display hook, property of the primary engineer that helped develop the C-130 Air Delivered Drift Reduction System (ADDRS). This prototype hook Apollo Astronauts would deploy through the Command Module hatch to snag a line laid across the drift line to slow down the drift rate and speed for rescue divers to reach them faster. It is test prototype of the actual hook later developed with hinged fingers so it would fit through a side hole in the hatch. This grappling hook was tested but never flown. Piece measures 5 x 5 x 5" with wood display block displaying glue residue otherwise fine with the hook itself exhibiting use. An interesting piece for any collector. Estimate Value $400 - UP

Realized $256
