Aerospace History: Early Rocketry Including Sets of Papers from Hans Hosenthien and V-2 Rocket Fragments. Operation Paperclip was a secret program of the Joint Intelligence Objectives Agency (JIOA), in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians (many who were former members and some were former leaders of the Nazi Party) were brought to America to give the US an advantage over the pending Cold War and ultimately the Space Race. Hans Hosenthien (1915 - 1996) worked with the Wernher von Braun rocket team at Fort Bliss, White Stands, and Huntsville, and later became head of the Flight Dynamics Branch, Guidance and Control Division at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. Offered are several of his handwritten notes, calculations and schematics. Also included is a V-2 rocket fragment from one test-fired in 1946 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico all with COas.
