Roman Judaea, 2nd-4th Century AD., Pale Green Bottle with Violet Trailed Thread Decoration Along the Neck. Pale green glass bottle with nearly spherical body, slightly concave at the base, and cylindrical neck subtly widening to the rim, which is only vaguely flared. Trailed thread decoration spirals around the central third of the neck, and has developed a striking iridescence. Passages of the body are likewise opalized, revealing sparkling, pearlized hues of peach, pink, lavender, blue, and green. Intact. Height: 5 1/8". Estimate Value $300 - 500
Ex June 1986, Superior Galleries Sale of the bankrupt assets of the International Diamond Corporation. The ancient Roman glass was acquired thru Rafi Brown in the early 1980's.
