Roman Judaea, 2nd-4th Century AD., Opalized Amber Bottle. Amber glass bottle with spherical body and cylindrical neck which is slightly constricted where it meets the body and flares at the rim. Subtly curved ribs encircle the body to lend additional visual interest to this delicate vessel. Passages of lavender and pale green iridescence. Intact and in excellent condition, with no evidence of repair. Height: 5 1/8". Estimate Value $300 - 500
Ex June 1986, Superior Galleries Sale of the bankrupt assets of the International Diamond Corporation. The ancient Roman glass was acquired thru Rafi Brown in the early 1980's.
