Bronze Roman Eagle Mount or Finial, 1st - 4th Century. Fine Roman bronze finial or mount (used on wagons or chariots) hand cast and beautifully fashioned into the head of an eagle. Usually these were found in two sizes, and this being the smaller and scarcer sized at 70¼ x 26½ x 36 mm. Nice detail in the head with feathers, eyes and beak. Excellent condition.
