Weil, Shraga: "Ancient Almanac" Complete Set of 8 Serigraphs in Orignal Hardcase Folio (1918 - 2009) Born in 1918 in Slovakia, he studied arts at the Arts Academy of Prague until the beginning of WWII. During the war, Weil was an active member of the Hungarian resistance, mainly in forging certificates and documents. In 1947 Weil went to Israel and joined Kibbutz HaOgen. and worked as an illustrator and designer of "HaPoalim" publishers, enjoying great success over the next 4 decades. His art reflects biblical subjects, Jewish tradition, life in the Kibbutz and more.

Ancient Almanac, Safrai Gallery, Jerusalem, Israel. Limited Edition #88 of 200, each signed in pencil by Shraga Weil and serigraphs measure approximately 22½ x 15¼". "Eight Labors of the Seasons", recalling the ancient almanac (al-manakh, Arabic). 1) Planter (reality is a dissonant rainbow, 2) Woodsman (the tree is our self portrait our unfinished song), 3) First Fruits (Fulness despoiled), 4) The Dreamer (In his ladder tree), 5) The Olive Harvester (climbs beats and gleans), 6) The Wayfarer (Is the Perplexed Guide), 7) A Shepherdess (spirits the dream's repose), 8) The Firekeeper (lights the dark side of the moon). The serigraph set comes with an introduction written by Jo Milgrom (Center of Jewish Studies, Berkeley, CA), a title page and the eight serigraphs all enclosed in a custom cranberry colored hardcover folio with gilt letters, 24 x 16" The serigraphs in nearly mint condition, the outer hardcase extremely clean.
