Castel, Moshe: "Daughters of Jerusalem" Polished Bronze Relief on Suede Panel (1909 – 1992) Moshe Castel was the son of a rabbi skilled in writing Torah scrolls as well as designing their silk coverings and drapery for Holy Arks in synagogues. His father's influence inspired him to enroll at the Betzalel Arts School and afterwards he studied in Paris. Upon completion of his studies, Castel pursued a career in religious abstract art and soon became one of the most respected and celebrated artists of Israel and the world; his original works are in virtually every major modern art museum of note. Offered is a polished bronze relief entitled Daughters of Jerusalem. Actual bronze measures 20½ x 15" and is mounted on thick panel covered in red suede-like fabric with gold and silver gilt lettering and brass corner tabs which measures 33 x 22½". The entire piece is then usually framed to individual tastes with that freedom existing in this case. Bronze relief is substantial, weighing about 28 pounds and the entire piece has been kept in pristine condition. A most dramatic and compelling relief. Estimate Value $800 - UP
