Pair of 19th Century Bronze Sphinxes on Iron Bases. French, patinated bronze models of recumbent sphinxes in the Egyptian Revival manner popular in the latter part of the 19th century. Majestic and striking, the pair have aged beautifully in their 100 plus years. The iron bases were likely re-painted decades ago and have blemishes and chips that add immeasurably to the overall appeal of these pieces. Each stands 10½ x 13½ x 6¾" Beautiful pieces.
