USS Maine -- Plaque Cast From Metal Salvaged From The Wreck. 12½ x 17½" plaque reads: "In Memoriam. USS Maine / Destroyed in Havana Harbor / February 15th, 1898." Along the lower edge is "This Tablet Is Cast From Metal Recovered From the USS Maine." A figure with bowed head holds a patriotic shield. A wire chain is affixed to the back for hanging. Quite heavy.
