Two Canes: One From Wood Salvaged From A War of 1812 Ship, and One With Civil War Connection, Celebrating the GAR (1) War of 1812 - 33½" cane with plaque saying "USS Oneida/Sacketts Harbor/War of 1812." The Oneida captured the British schooner Lord Nelson on 5 June 1812, and in April 1813 was involved in the capture of York (now Toronto) and Fort George, Canada. The Oneida finally sank in the 1830s and the cane is made from wood salvaged from her. (2) 35" cane with decorative GAR [Grand Army of the Republic] German silver head; with military paraphernalia. Canes have some dings and chips. Estimate Value $500 - UP
