Relics From the Great Chicago Fire (1871), the San Francisco Fire (1906), and the Oregon State Capitol Fire (1935). Small smoking pipe, 5¾" long, with a tile sheared on to the stem, with an old note: From the Ruins of the Great Chicago Fire. A blue and white water pitcher, 6½ x 6½ x 4", was burned in the San Francisco fire and was recovered by Elsa H. Roach from her home. A letter of provenance accompanies the pitcher. A third relic is a lobby rail, 3¾" long x 2" in diameter, which was in The Old Statehouse (Salem, OR) which burned in 1935; the rail is mounted on a 6¾ x 4" piece of polished marble. (3 items).
