Cane Made From Admiral Nelson's Flagship "Foudoyant". Oak cane with copper head, 35½" (77cm), made from the HMS Foudoyant, which served as Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship from 1799-1800. The ship finally broke up in a gale in 1897. The copper head has three different images. One is a bust image of Nelson with "Horatio Viscount Nelson" above and "Born Sep. 1758/Died Oct. 1805" below. Another image is of the ship, with "'Foudoyant' Nelson's Flagship" above and below, "Commenced 1789/Launched 1798/Wrecked Blackpool 1797." The third image is in the shape of a coat of arms with "Oak and Copper From Vessel" above and "After Breaking Up" below. Engraved vertically is "Rec.d No. 311490." Ding in top edge of head, above images, and wood shows minor evidence of use. A historic item. Estimate Value $500 - UP
