Abraham Lincoln Encased Hair Clippings with Provenance. Two of the four hairs are 1cm; the other two are .5cm, encased in a 2.25cm x 2.25cm case, which is matted with a photo of Lincoln and the provenance, to a size of 10 x 8". According to the provenance, Lincoln gave several strands of hair to Mrs. Caroline Wright, wife of Governor Joseph A. Wright of Indiana, who collected hair of political figures. The hair relic remained in the Wright family until sold with other items at Christie's in 1992. The relics were sold again by Christie's as part of the Forbes Collection (Lot #121), a description of which is attached to a COA from the Historical Shop, on the back of this item. The originally strands have obviously been divided. Estimate Value $500 - UP
