Striking and Handsome Carved Jade Figures, Pendants and Tablets Possibly of Some Age. A collection of jade carvings that came to us from a consignor of ancient chinese coinage. The collection ranged from significant pieces to 19th century reproductions. We think these pieces are similar or even 20th century. What is undeniable is how appealing the carvings are and how remarkably distressed their appearance. The collection consists of 9 rectangular tablets, all with intricate image of mystical animals, foo dogs, the ocean, sky and stars, even one with a dancing figure. All are around 1¼ x 4 and are quite appealing. The six figural carvings are likewise quite interesting ranging from a ram's head, two foo dogs atop pedestal, but when laid flat appears to be a beetle. There is also a fine rabbit and three other pieces, the thick ovoid piece carved on both sides with temple scenes. The figures vary slightly in size but are all around 2 x 1½".
