Westchiloff, Constantin Alexandrovitch -- Acclaimed Early 20th Century Russian/American Painter. Rocky Seascape Constantin Alexandrovitch Westchiloff (1877-1945) was born in Russia in 1877, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg; as an artist he traveled extensively in Europe and in the USA. He finally settled in New England, where he died in 1945. Westchiloff is best-known for his seascapes (particularly of the New England coastline), but was also well regarded for his landscapes, portraits and figures. Offered is such a seascape, a sunrise just peaking from the horizon, the colors reflected in the ocean capturing perfectly the beauty and light that can be found on the New England coast. Canvas measures 16 x 28", framed in its original gilt wood, antique frame to 21 x 33". Painting is in excellent condition; wood frame has minor chips, not unusual given the age. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP

Realized $1,320
