Oliver, Myron Angelo -- Celebrated Early 20th Century Landscape Artist. Edgewater, Hudson River (1891-1967) Celebrated artist of landscapes, cityscapes, the California coastline and Eastern seaboard. Oliver was a long time resident of Monterey, California, who began painting at a young age, studied art at Stanford then New York City at the Art Students League. He joined the Army and fought in WWI, married a fellow art student and returned to Monterey where he founded the Carmel Art Association. He painted a great deal during his life as well as pursuing his interests in fine frame and furniture making. Here he captures a distressed building on the Hudson River ca. 1930s, very representative of his expressionist eye for landscape and colors. Oil on canvas 16 x 20" framed to 20 x 24". Painting is in fine condition. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
