Lovely 19th Century English Painting of Two Young Sisters Off To Market, Unsigned. Sisters Gorgeous, unsigned 19th Century oil on canvas of two young sisters off to early market. The detail in this piece is exquisite, rivalling that of works rendered on fine porcelain of the period. The faces are lovely, the playful affection between the two apparent, and the details in the fabric absolutely remarkable. We must add that written in thick pencil on verso on the frame is the name Duval. Unfortunately there are several artists of the period named Duval, as well as dealers. Canvas measures 13½ x 10½" and is in a 20 x 16½" heavy antique gilt wood frame that while having a few chips from age and wear, is quite remarkable and compliments the work beautifully. Fine.
