Hansen, Armin -- Important Early 20th Century Monterey California Artist. Home From The Sea (1886-1957) Born in San Francisco, Hansen spent time four years of his young adult life on Norwegian steam trawlers. He settled in 1913 in Monterey, was instrumental in forming the Carmel Art Institute and lived at the same studio/home until his death. His seascapes, coastal scenes, and life within the fishing industry of the Monterey Peninsula brought him great acclaim in American art. Offered is one of his fine dry point etchings on paper entitled "Home From The Sea," an image of a fisherman whose boat is being pulled by a horse-drawn cart. Etching is titled in pencil in lower left white border and signed by Hansen in the lower right. Etching is 5¼ x 7" archivally framed and matted to 17 x 19" in a gilt-wood frame.
