Curtis, Tony -- Acclaimed Screen Actor, Writer and Celebrated Painter. Sheba (1925-2010) Born Bernard Schwartz, Tony Curtis enjoyed a 60 year career in Hollywood starring in some of the greatest films of the mid-20th Century including SOME LIKE IT HOT, SPARTACUS, and THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS. Throughout his life he always enjoyed painting, but in the 1980s he developed his talents into a second career which lasted into the final years of his life. In 2007, his painting The Red Table was acquired for the permanent collection by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and his works have been exhibited and for sale throughout the US. Offered is a charming portrait of a cat poised between a goldfish bowl and a large potted plant. Bursting in Curtis' usual colors and style, the work celebrates life and the cats that allow us to share the world with them. Canvas measures 30 x 24", is unframed and signed boldly in lower right corner as was his style. In perfect condition canvas is stamped on verso, "Property of Tony Curtis" and comes to us from his fifth wife. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
