Artist Unkown, Hudson River School Movement, Mid-19th Century. Fine, mid 19th century oil on paper board, unsigned. The Hudson River School was and American art movement in the middle 1800s that embodied a group of landscape painters whose aesthetic vision was influenced by romanticism. The paintings for which the movement is named depict the Hudson River Valley and the surrounding area, including the Catskill, Adirondack, and White Mountains. This is a classic example of the period, almost a mythic interpretation of the natural beauty found in the landscape of the Hudson River Valley - fishermen and boat men dwarfed by the all consuming glory of the country. Work is 12 x 16¾ and framed handsomely in gilt wood frame having some chips and dings given the age. Quite fine. Estimate Value $800 - UP

Realized $600
