Gorgeous 19th century oil on panel, artist unknown, capturing a gorgeous and serene landscape of boats sailing on a river as dusk approaches. Stunning detail captures a bucolic Chinese life with a town of commercial importance in the distance, a lovely Chinese garden patio in the foreground. Panel measures 18 x 23½" framed in a gilt wood frame 22 x 28" of considerable age that adds immeasurably to the work. Painting has some age crazing throughout, not at all unusual given the age.
