Disney: Bambi and Thumper and Watercolor Sketch. Large 14 x 17" original pencil and watercolor art of Bambi and Thumper from the 1942 animated classic BAMBI. The sketch, based on the paper, toning (and the condition of the frame and glass when originally framed) must be from the 1960s and is signed "C Sáinz" in lower right corner and came from the collection of a well-known collector of Hollywood ephemera. Searching the last name came up with many possibilities but nothing definitive if the artist worked for studio merchandise or licensed publications. What is without question is this is a lovely piece, extremely well rendered, colorful and playful. Toning to far right and left sides due to toning from cardboard backing when originally framed, an issue easily resolved with a new acid-free mat and backing. Estimate Value $125 - UP
