Miller, Arthur -- Celebrated American Playwright, Author and Screenwriter, Three Signed Pieces (1915 - 2005) Arthur Miller, American playwright, essayist, author, screenwriter and one of the top five figures in twentieth-century American theater, Pulitzer Prize Winner, Kennedy Center Honoree, testified before HUAC and was the husband of screen legend Marilyn Monroe. Offered are three signed pieces by Mr. Miller. The first is a piece written for US News and World Report dated November 12, 1979 on his definition of what constitutes a great play, stating the " best test of a play is whether it says something to the great unwashed majority of people." He further explains that the greatest theaters were in Elizabethan and Greek times. He has signed his typed opinion for the magazine along the bottom. The second is a TLS to a fan who wrote to Miller regarding the frustration of having the first name of Arthur, typed on Miller's personal letterhead,dated 1983. Finally, a program from "Conservations With Playwrights" at the Theresa Kaufman Concert Hall in New York City. He has signed boldly at the top. All three pieces in excellent condition.
