Louis B. Mayer: Signed Renewal Contract/Letter By Studio Titan Mayer To Legendary Production Head, Cedric Gibbons, Rare. Mayer, Louis B. (1885 - 1957) Movie theater and production studio owner who merged with Marcus Lowe to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which proved to be one of the most prestigious studios for nearly 50 years. An exceptionally scarce 1922 typed letter signed ("Louis B. Mayer") one page, quarto, Culver City, California, August 26, 1924 on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer letterhead to A. Cedric Gibbons which is accompanied by Gibbons' three page renewal contract. Gibbons was MGM's art and production designer chief. A legend in the business, he was nominated for 38 Oscars for his work and won 11 times. Gibbons' signature is on two of the documents. The renewal documents are stapled to copies of previous contracts with the studio. All three signatures bold and clean. Total of 8 pages. Estimate Value $300 - UP
