Fine Early 20th Century U.S. Navy Model 1872 Officer's Sword, & Scabbard, J. H. Hirsch & Co. Chicago Ill. Our second Model 1872, Naval Officer's sword and scabbard and this example is in excellent condition. Nicely cared for over the years, sword was manufactured by "J.H. Hirsch & Co.Chicago, Ill" engraved on the blade just in front of ornate blade guard. On the other side the engrave name: "F. M. Andrews". 30" in length, USN engraved at blade's center and has the presence of a "dolphin's" head on the quillon finial at the tip of the upper guard. It has a brass hilt with a white sharkskin grip, bound by gilt wire. Blade exhibits only occasional light scuffing otherwise boasting very nice gleam. Original tassel present.
