Lot 295

1799 S-189 R2 PCGS graded VF20. PCGS graded VF-20 Brown. Dark chocolate brown and steel. The surfaces are dull and covered with a thin layer of dirt mixed with natural oxidation; it looks this cent has not been touched since it was plucked out of circulation. There is no corrosion and the only notable marks are a vertical nick under the E in CENT and a rim bruise at the second A in AMERICA. MDS. The bottom of the date is starting to fade into the rim but it is clear and all the legends are complete. A decent example of this tough date, and it should look better following a bit of careful TLC. Our grade is F12 sharpness net VG10 for the dirt and dullness (PCGS # 1443) Estimate Value $18,000 - UP

Realized $19,200
