Lot 220

1794 S-51 R4 VG8. Sharpness VF20 but the obverse fields have been tooled to smooth away fine granularity. The tooling is most obvious around the date and to the left. No verdigris, and the only additional mark is a rim bruise at the F in OF. Attractive and rather glossy medium brown and light chocolate blending to darker olive brown in protected areas. Obviously the obverse must have been recolored following the tooling but the toning looks great. EDS, Breen state I, before any die cracks. The date and legends are strong. Estimate Value $450 - UP
Les Heilbronner Collection 1988-Les Heilbronner Estate.
