Lot 1949

1847-C. NGC graded MS-62. Mostly untoned with strong mint luster throughout. The strike is boldl, with full sharp details on Liberty's curls and the eagle. The Charlotte Mint really got legs in 1847, as the mintage ticked off an entire 84,151 pieces. While this is modest for many more plentiful issues from other mints, for Charlotte, it was a lot more than in previous years. Hence this date is fairly available in circulated grades, but in mint state it is prohibitively rare. Only a few are known! Hence this sparkling and flashy MS-62 coin should be strongly cosidered if you are a specialist. Not many chance exist to obtain one! Pop 2; 1 finer in 63 (PCGS # 8223) Estimate Value $11,000 - 12,000
