1884. NGC graded Proof 68 Cameo. Only 1006 minted and this one is one is perhaps one of the finest known. The strike is bold and crisp throughout, and all the features are brought up to their fullest extent. This is also the well known repunched date variety, where 1884 was first punched a bit too low in the die, then corrected. The undertype is clear with a strong loupe. Most of the known proofs of this date exhibit this feature. What really separates this coin from the masses is the astounding quality of the surfaces. Rarely are the delicate mirror fields found so untouched and pristine! Furthermore the devices are also perfectly preserved, with undisturbed frost in abundance.
