Lot 1832

1836 Pattern Dollar. Silver, plain edge. Judd-60. Pollock-65. PCGS graded Proof 63 PQ. CAC. Restrike, Rarity 5. Pop 20; 10 finer, 8 in 64, 2 in 64+. Boldly struck with lovely even antique blue and gold toning on both sides. These early Gobrecht pattens have been immensely popular since they were first seen by collectors. The handsome obverse design of Liberty seated on a rock with her cap of freedom flying high, and the realistic eagle in full flight capturs the imagination of any numismatist. Finding an example so choice and colorfully toned is a true delight. The strike is sharp throughout, and the surfaces are fresh and pleasing (PCGS # 11227) Estimate Value $30,000 - 35,000
